Weekend in Toronto

Or 48 hours in the 6ix as a Drake fan would say. Toronto has been emerging as a tourist hotspot, mostly thanks to countless mentions from its unofficial president Drizzy. Since I live a couple hours away, Toronto is a great destination for when I want to have a mini-getaway and not break the bank. Here's my 24 hours in Toronto list:

EAT. There are so many great restaurants in Toronto, where to start? I wasn't able to get into Drake's restaurant Fring's but if you know your dates ahead of time try to make a reservation (at least 3 weeks in advance). The food is apparently stellar, the prices seem reasonable and also, major bragging rights. Canoe is a must. It's voted one of the best in Canada. Other favs

SEE
1. See a play - Unbeknownst to many, Toronto has a booming theatre life.  There is a show for everyone's taste. I saw this one last weekend called Espwa, a play about three Haitian women who share a common desire to not dwell on misery and have hope. My official verdict : it was dope as f*ck!

2. CN Tower - See breathtaking Views from the 6ix (ok, this is my last Drake reference)

3. Go to a game - My American cousins who love the NBA didn't even know Toronto had a team. but HOW? They play at the Air Canada Centre and have been great for the last 3 years. It's also home to the Toronto Maple Leafs. As an Ottawanian "LEAFS SUCK" is one of our motos but feel free to watch them too. The Blue Jays also play in the nearby Rogers Arena.
4. If you like Hockey, visit the Hockey Museum

5. AGO

6. St-Lawrence Market

SHOPPING
Since this is only for 48 hours, there isn't a lot of time for shopping so I would hit up the Eaton Centre downtown and walk around Dundas Square. They also opened a new Saks and even if it's not your budget, the beautiful design alone warrants a visit. Check out Muji on Dundas. It's a Japanese retailer that sells evertything from clothes to kitchen wear and weirdly addictive pens.
